Me, who am I?

A very simple person who embraces the beauty of a straightforward life. Since retiring from the service in 2011, I have enjoyed driving a truck and experiencing new adventures on the road. Although I faced the heartbreaking loss of my wife of 28 years to COVID in 2021, I hold onto the cherished memories we created together and look forward to the brighter days ahead.

I am absolutely passionate about traveling and exploring new places, with a particular love for majestic mountain ranges. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of hiking and camping amidst nature’s beauty whenever I get the chance. In my past adventures, I reveled in the exhilarating experiences of climbing and rappelling, feeling a rush like no other. Unfortunately, since my back surgery, I’ve had to scale back on these activities, and I deeply miss the adrenaline and joy they brought into my life.

Nowadays I spend more time riding and exploring roads on my Harley.

My objective for this site is to meticulously document all my travels and adventures in writing. In light of my recent diagnosis of several health issues following my time in the service, I intend to share my experiences and challenges with others.

Phil is a highly adaptable cybersecurity professional with a strong foundation in auditing, compliance, and full stack development. With over two decades of combined experience in technical support, IT operations, military leadership, and client engagement, Phil brings a unique blend of strategic insight, technical fluency, and operational rigor to every environment he enters.

His core competencies include cybersecurity auditing, operational compliance, threat assessment, technical documentation, and personnel training. Phil’s background also includes hands-on experience with JavaScript, Python, SQL, React, and Node.js, supported by certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, and Cybersecurity, as well as federal-level training through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Phil has consistently demonstrated his ability to resolve complex technical problems, close cases efficiently, and maintain high customer satisfaction in fast-paced environments. His military career further sharpened his instructional, risk management, and leadership capabilities, which now serve as the backbone of his civilian professional pursuits.

Phil is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Management at Walden University. He holds an MBA in Finance (project pending) from American Military University, a BA in Business Finance and Psychology from the University of St. Thomas, an AAS in Cybersecurity from San Antonio College and an AAS in Criminal Justice from CCAF.
